The Thai currency is the baht. The baht is divided into satangs (100 satangs = 1 baht) although the satang is not widely used now except on busses. Coins are used for 1, 5 and 10 baht, with the fairly recent 10 baht coin being multicoloured. Be careful - there are two 1 baht coins, the larger one being similar to the five baht coin. Notes are available in 10 baht (being superceded by the coin) 20, 20, 100, 500 and 1000 baht. Do not try presenting the 1000 baht note to any taxi driver or market stall - it is unlikely that they will have change.
